Carmel Counseling Center
Types of Services

Assessment and/or Referral:
Needs are determined and treatment recommendations offered according to each individual client’s life situation, personal history and current issues.

Individual Counseling:
Clients meet with a counselor for one-on-one assistance in dealing with life issues. Sessions vary in length.

Marital and Family Counseling:
Spouses and/or other family members are involved together with a trained counselor in learning to develop healthy relationships as God intended.

Support Therapy Groups:
Participants sharing similar challenges come together in an atmosphere of love and acceptance to further the healing process in their lives. Groups offered include, but are not limited to the following topics: self esteem, co-dependency, sexual addiction, eating disorders, anger management, divorce recovery, parenting and communication with parents.

Integration of biblical truths and psychological principles
CCC counselors have received training at seminaries or institutions with an integration model.  This means that problems and health can be explored in terms of physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual aspects.

Inner Healing and Prayer Therapy
This unique 3-way process is designed to address emotional wounds with biblical and experiential truth.  Counselor assessment determines if this approach is suitable.  Sessions typically average 2 hours in length.

Play Therapy
Children communicate their thoughts and feeling through play more naturally than they do through verbal communication.  The aim of this method of therapy for young children is to decrease behavioral and emotional difficulties that interfere significantly with normal functioning.  Typically sessions are 40 minutes with the child followed by a 10 minute feedback with the parents.

Ministry Care
CCC is connected in the Charlotte-Metro area with different churches, para-churches, and missions organizations.  Often CCC is used to provide counseling and care for those that are in full-time ministry.  CCC counselors are trained in the understanding of the unique stressors that ministry causes on individual and families.

Internet Computer Services
In some unique situations CCC can offer counseling services for missionaries on the field who are in a part of the world that does not have professional counseling services.  Internet calling will be used to provide support and care to these missionaries in this unique circumstance. This service will only be provided after an initial face to face interview has been done by the CCC counselor and a relationship has been established.

Career Testing
CCC has a licensed psychologist on staff who will administer an MMPI and a Strong’s Inventory to assess for possible career placement.  These tests will be administered at CCC and interpreted by the psychologist.  This assessment is best for young adults who are of college age or adults who are perhaps looking to change careers.

Student Intern
CCC does offer an internship for those students who are in graduate programs in the field of Counseling/Psychology that require practicum or internships as a part of their curriculum.  This is an unpaid position that allows the student to grow in the knowledge and practice of counseling.  CCC is limited in the number of interns it can have at one time, thus, this is a highly sought after position and interviews will be conducted.  For more information please contact davidd@carmelbaptist.org.

Support Groups
CCC offers various support groups throughout the year.  Some of the groups CCC has run in the past include: Divorce Care, Divorce Care for Children, Grief Share, Boundaries, and a parenting support group for adopted children.

CCC Policies and Procedures

Confidentiality
All counseling is held in strict confidence between the client and counselor. The only exception to this policy occurs in the event of imminent danger (suicidal and/or homicidal threat and/or suspected child abuse). In such instances, proper help will be sought. All other outside consultation will require signed consent from the client.

Appointments
To schedule a session with one of our staff, please call the CCC office at 704-849-0686 Monday-Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm. Evening appointments are sometimes available upon request.

Cancellation Policy
If, for any reason, you are unable to keep your appointment or need to cancel and reschedule, please notify us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time. If you have not cancelled within 24 hours, you will be responsible for the session fee. CCC's main number, as well as each counselor, have voice mail boxes where you can leave a message.

Fee Structure

However, research has shown that when some payment is involved, clients work harder and feel greater impact in the counseling process. Therefore, the following fee structure is utilized:

1 hour session .................................. $70.00

Carmel Church members receive a $20 scholarship so their fee is $50.  All fees are due upon completion of each session and are made payable to Carmel Counseling Center.

Mission Statement

The design of God is for every life to fully reflect His very nature and have meaningful impact for His glory. Jesus passionately and boldly proclaimed, “I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly.” - John 10:10
